ABC's of Vital Nutrients

Antioxidants
help rid the body and neutralize free radicals. Free radicals are produced by normal body processes and environmental pollutants. Left un-neutralized, free radicals can cause pre-mature aging and cell damage.
Enzymes
help the body digest food so it can be absorbed through the walls of the small intestine into the blood stream.
Essential Fatty Acids
especially omega-3 and omega-6, are known as "good fats". They must be absorbed through food and are called essential since the body is not able to produce them.
Fiber
absorbs waste, toxins, cholesterol and excess water. Fiber removes these toxins from the body and is therefore vital to the health of the colon and heart.
Minerals
are needed for healing, tissue rebuilding muscle response, the transmission of messages through the nervous system, and the utilization of nutrients in food.
Vitamins
are substances that are needed by the body for normal growth and function. They regulate metabolism, help convert fat and carbohydrates into energy, and assist in forming bone and tissue.
